A significant issue in poetry and literature is the pursuit of innovation and the avoidance of merely repeating what others have said. The quest for novelty and innovation is not confined to any specific era or location; rather, every period—driven by its own unique exigencies—manifests its own form of innovation. The enduring poets of Persian literature have each engaged in innovation in their own distinct ways. Some of these poets have articulated their specific approaches to innovation and expressed their views on the subject within their poetry. The present study identifies and examines Nizami Ganjavi’s perspectives on innovation as presented in his *Khamsa*. In addition to outlining these views, the study highlights specific aspects of Nizami’s innovation through illustrative verses. His frequent references to various facets of this concept—such as the use of new poetic forms, the alignment of poetic language with the spirit of the times, and the maintenance of continuity with the works of predecessors—demonstrate his profound awareness of the subject.
