Within the scope of contemporary Persian poetry, Shams Langroodi’s poetry, relying on a simple, narrative-oriented, and at the same time multi-layered language, has a high capacity for semiotic and mythological reading. This research aims to analyze the mechanisms of signification in his poetry to clarify how everyday signs, peripheral objects, and elements of the contemporary biosphere become cultural macro-signs in his poetic context and, instead of directly reproducing ancient myths, create a kind of modern and empirical mythology. The necessity of this research stems from the fact that despite the attention paid to language, narrative, and simplicity of expression in Shams Langroodi’s poetry, the semiotic and mythological mechanisms of meaning production in his works have been less systematically investigated., The present study attempts to show that Shams' poetry moves on the border between the individual and the collective and links personal experience to cultural memory. The main question of the research is what are the most important cultural sign systems in Shams Langroodi's poetry and how mythological motifs such as death, rebirth, threshold, and the cycle of loss are decoded at the level of language, image, and narrative. The research method is descriptive-analytical and based on close reading of poetic texts, and its theoretical framework uses the concepts of cultural semiotics along with modern mythological approaches. The findings show that Shams Langroodi, through detailing and concise expression, transforms objects, bodies, and nature into carriers of cultural memory and through it, creates myths that are appropriate to the contemporary world.
