Examining the psychological layers of the text is a new approach in contemporary literary criticism, which examines the mental state governing the literary work by using the perspective of prominent psychologists. Based on the psychoanalytical theory of Eric Fromm, the present research deals with the psychological criticism of Forough Farrokhzad's poetry and examines the needs of the human psyche in an analytical/descriptive way in the works of this poet. The conducted investigations show that the five tendencies of the human psyche mentioned in Forum's theory have specific examples in Forough Farrokhzad's poems.Man's need for connection is manifested in the form of love and connection with nature, national identity, literary creativity, orientation towards the issue of religion and rootedness of the human soul are among the other needs raised in Forough's poetry. Also, there are examples of accepting, exploitative, and death-oriented behavior in Forough's poems, which were created due to the lack of attention of the society towards the provision and fulfillment of human psychological needs. The result is that Forough Farrokhzad's poetry, in its psychological dimension, oversees the fulfillment of the needs that provide the ground for human excellence and reduces the psychological tensions resulting from the anomalies of the society
