Colloquial language is an informal type of language that originates from the realities of human life. This type of language has different components. Colloquial idioms are one major component of this type of language. This descriptive-analytical research aims at finding the general and the detailed concepts expressed by the colloquial idioms which include the word "God". For this purpose, we, first, extracted the idioms including the word "God" and the context of their use from Najafi's Persian Colloquial Dictionary (2007). Then, we attempted to classify the idioms in terms of the concepts they denote. The findings showed that idioms, at the general level, indicate the concepts of "emphasis", "hope", "support", "jealousy", "arrogance", "kindness and mercy", "irresponsibility", "time", "opportunity", "power", "intensity", "informing" and "oppression". On a smaller level, each idiom, within its context of use, typically demonstrates some unique details of each general concept. In addition, a major finding of the paper is that some idioms including the word "God" illustrated the general concept of "time" as "indeterminate time" and "infinite time". This finding adds to the results of the previous studies in Persian, in which "time" was just conceptualized metaphorically in terms of "place", "object", "human being", and "container". Seemingly, Idioms are not just aimed at stating the general concepts; they are extensively used to refer to the detailed aspects of the general concepts within certain context of use. If non-idiomatic expressions are to be used to express the same details, we will end up in long-winded and complicated speech.
